Coping with the world’s pandemics

Dozens of pandemics have occurred since the beginning of the world. from the middle-age with the plague, to the 1980’ with HIV/aids, by way of the 19th century with cholera.

However, COVID-19 pandemic was nothing like the previous ones, because of its drastic impact all over the world, whether it be on economies, diplomatic relations or human rights. By revealing the systemic failures of our world, this pandemic taught us many valuable lessons; notwithstanding its impact on health and sanitation, it showed the effects of globalization, as well as the risks caused by shortages of masks and medical equipment and highlighted the growing inequalities between developed and developing countries. It was thus up to all the Member States to discuss and take strong action through resolutions regarding the large panel of global problems this pandemic issued.

In the 7th INOMUN edition, students debated on this theme, aiming to find solutions to collectively prevent pandemics and their devastating effects while considering the necessary sustainable development goals.
